FAQs

What are WU earrings made from? Polymer Clay

Are your earrings sensitive ear friendly? All hooks and studs are made from 304 stainless steel unless otherwise stated. I choose surgical stainless steel for my stud posts & hooks so that my pieces can be enjoyed by many. It is designed for implanting and is the most commonly used material for body piercing. The levels of carbon, nickel, molybdenium and copper are very low and bond into the metal so will not be released into the body, offering the same hypo-allergenic properties as titanium.

Surgical steel is naturally a dull silver colour so often this is rhodium plated with a gorgeous shiny gold or silver.  This is great for sensitive ears as rhodium is nickel-free (hypo-allergenic).

Is your silver, sterling silver? No, I use surgical steel which is rhodium plated. See above for full explanation

Can I wear my earrings in the shower? Polymer clay is not designed to get wet. Please remove before showering or bathing.

How do I remove makeup stains? A gentle wipe with a baby wipe should do the trick. See ‘Care Instructions’ page for more.

My brass components are getting a bit tarnished, how can I make them shiny again? Though I polish all brass before assembling, it may tarnish over time, don’t worry this is normal. It can be polished up with a jewellery cloth or mix up some white vinegar, baking soda & a little lemon juice & gently wipe over the component with a cotton bud then dry with a cloth.
